Page 247 "were sorry Violet Durn. unfortunately FeedTech and other investors reviewed your purchasing history and we do not feel that you would be a reliable investment at this time".

In the quote above Nina finally responds to Violet about her claim she put in to fix her feed for free because she does not have the money to fix it herself and her warranty is up. Nina gives the unfortunate news that FeedTech does not have a reason to fix her feed because she is not a strong consumer and she could not benefit they're company in any way. This futuristic company only cares what a client can do for them. Violet is slowly dying and unable to move many parts of her body, and they still refuse to help her. The only way that FeedTech would possibly help her is she'd continuously consume their items for the next six months, then a repair MAY be possible.

I chose this quote because it shows how media and advertisement can manipulate peoples brain to better them as consumers, not people. It'd be impossible to think about life with out t.v commercials, radio  advertisements,  billboards Etc.
I believe  that M.t  Anderson wrote the book "feed" to warn consumers what is going on with the world now and how major companies  have plenty of ways to control what we think about on a daily basis with out us even noticing.

(page226) -Violet; " you know the day is going to get hot again when the rain is over because thats what the neighborhood association decided on"

this quote is from when violet is leaving Titus a message that he receives when he wakes up, Violets is not getting any better. the doctors say the feed is disrupting her brain, the part that controls your body and memory.  She writes  titus  not to worry him, but to talk to him, but Titus is fast asleep. In violets message she reminisces on old memories with her mother and talks about weather. the quote above shows that the weather depends on what people want it to be. The society controls mother nature. I dont get how they do this, but the author M.t anderson continues to come up with things for his futuristic novel.

*SERVICE TO A CORRUPTED FEED (pg 155)

In our modern day society when something goes wrong, we call customer service. In M.t andersons society if something is wrong with  someones feed, the call FeedTech where the customer is appointed to an automated computer Named Nina, it insists it can help Violet solve her feed issues and make the right decisions for her to make her the happiest shes ever been, but Violet becomes angry and hangs up.

Relating to what i found out earlier; the feeds are run by huge "evil" companies,  i believe the major companies are trying to take total control over the people by influencing them to do what they want them to. Violet is refusing the help, this is showing  her rebelling  to what the  rest of the society thinks is normal. If i was to guess, i think Violet will continue to rebel through out the book.

UPCARS* (Future Tech.)

When people think of the future, what comes to mind first? big buildings, cool architechture, flying cars? In M.t Andersons made up futuristic society it includes all 3, but it mostly refers to upcars, which are flying cars. M.t anderson uses real car companys names including; Dodge. After looking at many cars, this is the kind Titus picks when he goes car shopping with his family and Violet.

- Though upcars are not real, (not yet anyways) our own society has made advancements toward them including; hovercrafts, advanced helicopters, and other flying machinery. I believe one day we can use upcars for everyday travel, but until then we will continue to use the ground to get where we need to be.

IND. Reading #3

in this section of the 2nd chapter, Titus gives the reader the background and his thoughts on a "feed". Titus has never seen a computer outside of a human before because thats what they did before feeds, "forty to fifty years ago". He continuously brags about the feed and its advancements of making adequate decisions for the user depending on what they like. The feed is controlled by huge "EVIL" corporations, no matter how much the people dislike the corporations, there's nothing the people could do because they own everything. "so theres no reason to get all pissy about it."

i chose this part of the book because it showed the reader what someone who had the feed, thought about it. i think this is important because i believe the only way to understand what the "feed" is actually like is to hear from someone who has it. The advancements in technology lets each person have a mini computer in their head. Titus is more than okay with having it inside his brain.

*AIR FACTORY.
Titus and his new girlfriend are at Tituses house, and they are thinking of something they can do. Titus insists on driving into the forest with Violet. Tituses dad interrupts them and tells them that the forest is being replaced with an air factory that will replace the need of trees. Violet gets mad at what she hears and argues with dad that humans need trees,  but dad insists the factory is better.

I chose this subject of the air factory because it shows a large technological advancement in the society. With the use of an air machine, trees will serve no purpose besides be an animals home or something pretty to look at. i think in real life that the use of air machine would be helpful, but i don't see it coming into use in our world anytime soon.

In early pages of the book Feed, the crew of characters "feeds" have been turned off. They sit and talk to each other like normal kids in hospital beds. Hackers have hacked the whole feed system. According to Titus everything is now "boring" like the picture he sees on the hospital wall. With out the feed working, they are abnormal and confused. The feed is very beneficial to their everyday lives.

This relates to other things we've read in class this year. including the use of advertisements, and the sense of being influenced by others. Also, this reminds me on the dependence on an item, the characters use and depend on their feeds like the characters of "brave new world" had depended on soma.

The "feed" is future technology that influences ones thoughts, and gives information to the user depending on their preferences.

In the first chapter of the book FEED by M.T Anderson, the main character Titus adventures  to the moon with his friends Link, Calista, Quendy, Marty and Loga. Despite the opportunity of going to the moon, they still think it "sucked".

-This chapter showed the similarities between teens now a days and teens in the future. Teenagers are the same, they still complain about things that their lucky to have. In the future they have advanced technology that is able to bring them to the moon for a night out, its simple to them and nothing special.

The teenager like writing style M.t Anderson uses suggests he's making the reader feel like their in the book talking among the group of teens. Anderson does not hold back with swears or slang to get the point across that these are normal every day kids, just in the future.
